Legend of Jack:

Information and the few known details on Jack

Jack is an entity of unknown origins, it’s described as a semi tall humanoid with pale skin, long arms, a face whose only features are long black hair and two large black orb-like eyes. It is said to wear clothing that consists of a large black cloak, shirt, and pants. All of which are black. It hides its inhuman hands and feet by wrapping them completely with strips of cloth.

Other Names: The Faceless Demon, The One with the Dead Eyes, Jack the Ripper, The Pale Demon, Αυτός που κρύβει το πρόσωπό του (He who hides his face).

History: Nothing is known about the origins of the creature known as Jack, others say that he is a demon that forever haunts the world feeding on the fear of its victims. Others say that it is a member of a species that consists of only one individual, and there are others that say that it was once a human who was cursed by a witch when he dared to incur her anger. What is known is known is that it has been here since the very early ages of the world and is possible immortal, the earliest evidence of its existence is found in a single cave painting that depicts a tall humanoid with large black eyes chasing a group of hunters.  Many mysteries surround the creature known as Jack, what does he eat, where did he come from, what are his origins, and thousands of other questions. There have been thousands of recordings of its runs with humans throughout the world that suggest that it is nomadic. Jack’s actions and habits suggest that it is extremely intelligent, as in some accounts it is able to understand and communicate with humans.

Though there have been many accounts of Jack’s attacks on humans on of the most famous is its killing spree in Whitechapel, London which are famously known as the Jack the Ripper murders hence the creature’s name. Though most people have attributed the murders as the work of a serial killer they were in fact committed by Jack. The reason being most of Jack’s previous attacks on humans have been mistaken by professionals as the work of a killer or madman, this is due to the fact that the wounds that are inflicted by Jack’s claws are often mistaken for knife wounds as they are almost indistinguishable in their infliction. Eyewitnesses who claimed to have seen the women’s killer following behind them, the suspect was described as a pale man with a disheveled appearance with long black hair, a large black cape which was common at the time, gloves, worn down clothes and a scarf that almost completely covered his face. Eyewitnesses also described being overcome with the feeling that there was something wrong with him, something sinister, these feelings were mixed with a sense of dread about the figure. Even though police tried to find the mysterious man that was seen with all of the victims before their death they were never able to find him.

Years after the Whitechapel murders, Jack later appeared in America, though how and when he got there is a mystery. Throughout the 1800’s Jack was never seen or heard of, though it is more than likely that Jack was responsible for the many disappearances that occurred throughout the old west, though it has never been proven. However countless disappearances of people, ranging from children to adults suggests that Jack is still alive and continues to stalk and kill humans, some of them have reportedly complained that they were being stalked by a pale figure with a hidden face and large black overcoat. Only time will tell if another killing spree form this deadly and violent creature is forthcoming.

Personality

Jack’s actions and habits suggest that he is extremely intelligent as in some reports show that he has been able to understand and communicate with humans, even write letters. Jack is extremely aggressive, yet is careful not to give away his true nature to others. Other reports have suggested that Jack is extremely patient, as he is able to wait for years of one of his victims manages to escape before tracking them down with its telepathic link with them. Jack is also premeditated since he chooses his victims ahead of time before stalking and killing them.

Letters that have supposedly been written by Jack suggest that he is trying to amuse himself and trying to make himself appear human. Jack has been known to appear to some and seemingly leaving them unharmed, he lets these victims slowly drive themselves mad with paranoia and fear he often lets them live for years before coming back and taking them away.

Modus Operandi

Jack has several preferred methods of killing his victims, one is to take them by surprise, lifting them up by the throat, he holds them in the air for a while until the victim is at the height of their fear an then proceeded to absorb the victims’ fear before breaking their neck, this process also unintentionally leaves slashes on the victim’s neck which is the result of Jack’s claws slicing into the victims’ throat as he releases the deceased victim these are often mistaken for wounds inflicted by a knife, or blade. Aroused by the sight and smell of blood proceeds to violently slash his victim with his razor sharp claws before he finally drinks a portion of the victims’ blood.

Another method that Jack has been known to use is to snatch the victim and teleport them to an unknown location where he disembowels them.

Powers and Abilities

Though there is little known about him and his origins, when encountered Jack has displayed the following abilities.

Immortality- It is unknown how he became immortal, or if he has always been immortal. Jack is incapable of dying by any means that human beings experience is immune to aging and its effects on the body and mind. Therefore Jack has lived for countless eons, immune to exhaustion and possibly physical harm. For reasons still unknown, Jack has been known to enter a stage of dormancy or hibernation for a period of fifty years, possibly in order to awaken when humans are more “plentiful”. Because of his immortality, Jack is extremely intelligent with eon’s worth of knowledge and experience.

Intelligence- Though the true measure of his intellectual capacity is unknown, Jack has demonstrated in the past that he is both sentient and intelligent as he is able to understand and communicate with humans to a degree. However he is incapable of speech and can only communicate by means of hand gestures and other non-vocal forms of communication. Because of his immortality, Jack has vast measures of knowledge and experience that he has learned through countless centuries.

Superhuman Abilities- Being inhuman, Jack has a number of superhuman abilities. Jack has been shown to be super-humanly strong as he has demonstrated by accomplishing various feats of superhuman strength, for example on one such encounter with a human, Jack was able to lift and throw a rock that even twenty men couldn’t move. However the true extent of his strength his still unknown. Jack has also been shown capable of running at superhuman speeds, moving so fast that an afterimage is where he was previously standing. Other superhuman abilities that Jack has shown are agility and reflexes, these are shown when in one such encounter Jack was easily able to dodge the path of a bullet with relative ease.

Phase- Jack has been shown capable of phasing through solid objects, this is prominently shown in his famous “Axeman” murders where he was able to enter the house without using the doors or windows. It is unknown if this was due to an ability to phase through solid objects or an ability to teleport (see teleportation).

Teleportation- Jack has been shown to have the ability to teleport from one area to another, though the exact range of this ability is unknown. Jack has used this to a great effect in attacking his victims as he prefers to take them by surprise. It is unknown if Jack’s ability to phase through solid objects is actually just his ability to teleport from an area (see Phase).

Haunting Abilities- Though it is unknown if Jack is in fact a spirit but what is known however is Jack has demonstrated several abilities that have the characteristics of ghosts. These abilities include the ability to manipulate the energies of devices in order to create words, the ability to mentally “speak” in the white noise frequency. Sadly he has only been shown in one case however so it is difficult to conclude the existence of such abilities as the video to which it was demonstrated on could likely have been a hoax, but the possibility of this however is unlikely.

Presence- The mere presence of Jack has an abnormal effect on people, this depends on several stages of contact with Jack.

Indirect contact: The victim usually experiences an overwhelming sense of uneasiness and dread, this only last as long as Jack is nearby.

Near Jack when sleeping or unconscious: Usually when a victim is either sleeping or unconscious while in Jacks presence they experience nightmares about Jack, visions of impending doom, glimpses of Jack's previous victims. This usually leaves the Victims in a state of shock that lasts for a couple of hours after they wake up.

Brief Glimpses of Jack: The victim is overcome with fits of dread and terror. These are usually permanent and the victim is usually haunted by nightmares and fits of uncontrollable shuddering.

Prolonged Glimpse of Jack: The victim gradually begins to loose their grip on reality, followed by fits of uncontrollable terror, plagued by prolonged and more intense nightmares, paranoia, and random fits of intense rage.

Physical Contact with Jack: By this time the victim has lost their grip on reality, they are overcome with extreme paranoia, terrifying nightmares, uncontrollable shaking, random fits of rage,  and hallucination. Also these victims somehow have a telepathic link with Jack which takes a heavy toll on their mind, the victim is able to sense when Jack is near.

This ability may  come from an ability to secrete pheromones that causes these effects since victims have only felt this when Jack noticed them,in some cases these effects have have taken hold of his victims after Jack has noticed their presence. There are very few cases where some people are immune to this ability.

Jack in Myth and Legend

There have been many creatures found in mythology and legend that describe creatures similar to Jack. These have been recorded throughout history. From different versions of the bogeyman, to creatures in cryptozoology, some may be based on early encounters with Jack.

Babau

In the countries of the eastern Mediterranean, children who misbehave are threatened with a creature known as "babau" (or "baubau", "baobao", "bavbav" or similar). In Italy and Romania, the Babau (in Romania, Bau-bau) is also called the l'uomo nero (Romanian: omul negru) or "black man". In Italy, he is portrayed as a tall man wearing a heavy black coat, with a black hood or hat which hides his face. Sometimes, parents will knock loudly under the table, pretending that someone is knocking at the door, and saying: "Here comes l'uomo nero! He must know that there's a child here who doesn't want to drink his soup!" L'uomo nero is not supposed to eat or harm children, just take them away to a mysterious and frightening place. A popular lullaby says that he would keep a child with him "for a whole year". In Slovenia, the "Bavbav" is described as a formless spirit. In Greece and Cyprus the equivalent of the Bogeyman is known as Baboulas. Typically, he is said to be hiding under the bed, although the details of his story is adapted by the parents in a variety of ways. In Egypt"al-Bu'bu'" is often depicted as a night creature that is dressed in black, who haunts children that misbehave.

Butzemann

In Germanic countries, it is called the butzemann, busseman, buhman or boemand. In Germany the it is known as the "Buhmann" or the Butzemann. "der schwarze Mann" (engl. the black man), which refers directly to some inhuman or rather paranormal creature, which carries children away and hides in the dark corners under the bed or in the closet. "Der schwarze Mann" refers to the time of colonisation, when black people were believed to be uncivilized and dangerous. From there comes the children game "Wer hat Angst vorm schwarzen Mann" (Who is afraid of the boggie-man). In Denmark it is bussemanden or "Bøhmanden" (meaning "The Buhman"). It hides under the bed and grabs children who will not sleep. Like the English, it is also a slang term for nasal mucus. In Norway, he is referred to as Busemannen. In the Netherlands, the Boeman is portrayed as a creature that resembles a man, dressed completely black, with sharp claws and fangs. He hides under the bed or in the closet. The Bogeyman takes bad children or those that refuse to sleep and locks them in his basement for a period of time.

Haiti-In Haiti there is a popular belief that a tall man, with legs 2 floors high that walks around the towns at midnight to catch and eat the people that stay outside. He is called Mètminwi, which seems to be a contraction of mèt (from French "maître" English "master" and minwi from French "minuit" englsh "midnight", hence meaning the "master of midnight").

Bauk is an animal-like mythical creature in Serbian mythology. Bauk is described as hiding in dark places, holes or abandoned houses, waiting to grab, carry away and devour its victim; but it can be scared away by light and noise. It has clumsy gait, and its onomatopoeia is bau (Serbian pronunciation: [bau]).
